New Space, Same Iconic Union Square Restaurant
Less than a year after closing on 16th Street, Union Square Cafe opened in its new spacious home on 19th Street and Park Avenue South. Staying in Union Square was vital to the team, especially Chef Carmen Quagliata who said they couldn’t go more than a five-minute walk away from the Union Square Greenmarket, accordingly to The New York Times.
“Union Square Cafe has spent the last three decades sowing deep roots in its community,” said Sam Lipp, Director of Operations at Union Square Cafe and Daily Provisions and Union Square Partnership Board Member. “We could not be more thrilled to re-open on 19th St. and Park Ave. in the neighborhood in which we grew up.”
Already named by Tasting Table as the 2016 “Restaurant Comeback We’re Most Grateful For,” and given an honorable mention by Eater’s editor-in-chief as a top new restaurant of 2016 after its December opening, Union Square Cafe already has us wanting more.
