Vineyard Theatre Stages New York Premiere of Comedy “Can You Forgive Her?”

Gina Giofriddo’s Show Runs from May 4th – June 11th

The Vineyard Theatre rounds out its 2016-2017 season with the New York premiere of the Gina Gionfriddo’s dark comedy Can You Forgive Her? The two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist (Becky Shaw; Rapture, Blister, Burn) works with frequent collaborator Peter Dubois (Sunday in the Park with George) to return to the Vineyard for the first time since her 2005 hit, After Ashley.

Gionfriddo opens the show with protagonist Miranda (Amber Tamblyn – making her off-Broadway debut!) drowning in debt, possibly falling in love with the man paying her bills, and on the run from a date who threatened to kill her. On Halloween night, Graham (Darren Pettie) and his fiancé Tanya (Ella Dershowitz) open their doors to offer her a safe haven, but will the promise of a better life be a treat or a trick?

The play runs for a 1 hour and 45 minutes, with no intermission. To witness Gionfriddo’s remarkable ability to turn serious issues like financial insecurity into laughter, get your tickets for this limited engagement at vineyardtheatre.com.

Dedicated to the creation and production of daring new plays and musicals, Vineyard Theatre has consistently premiered provocative, groundbreaking works, including Paula Vogel and Rebecca Taichman’s INDECENT which just received a Tony Nomination for Best Play.
