Be Aware of Emergency Protocol
As we head into the holiday weekend, please be aware that the National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for New York City. A Tropical Storm Watch is issued 48 hours in advance of the possible onset of tropical-storm-force winds, which include sustained wind speeds of 39 mph to 74 mph.
The National Weather Service has also issued a Storm Surge Watch for coastal areas of New York City until further notice. The combination of strong winds, dangerous storm surge and high tide may cause normally dry areas to be flooded by rising waters moving inland from the shoreline within the next 48 hours.
If you’re staying in town this week, know how to prepare your home and review your plan for evacuation in case a Hurricane or Tropical Storm Warning is issued. If you lose power and have a disability or access needs, or use Life Sustaining Equipment (LSE) and need immediate assistance, please dial 911.
Call 311 to report non-emergency conditions.
Dial 911 for emergencies only.
Union Square Partnership’s Operations
The USP Clean Team will be out on the streets to supplement the City’s cleaning efforts. We complement property owners efforts by clearing debris from crosswalks, catch basins, and around fire hydrants. We ask that our businesses and property owners remain vigilant and work with us to clear in front of their properties so that the Union Square district remains safe and accessible.
Union Square Park
For your safety, please stay out of Union Square Park during the storm.
