Meet the Newest Union Square Chefs at the 21st Annual Harvest in the Square
You’ve seen Cava’s lineup of dips + spreads (Hummus, Tzatziki, Crazy Feta, and more) decorating the aisles of our local Whole Foods Market. Starting Friday, August 26th, this culinary brand is bringing even more healthful Mediterranean-inspired eats to Union Square with Cava Grill at 143 4th Avenue (between E 13th and 14th Streets).
Before the official launch, Cava Grill will serve a community lunch on Thursday – guests can enjoy a free meal but are encouraged to make a donation to Grow to Learn (a partner of Union Square Greenmarket’s parent organization, GrowNYC).
This vibrant fast-casual restaurant is all about bold flavors and balance, and their menu serves up both in abundance. This modern spot makes customization convenient: Meals start with a salad, grain bowl, or pita foundation—and then the real fun begins. Take your pick of proteins, dips, seasonal veggies, and unique dressings; here, you’re encouraged to pile your meal high with locally sourced ingredients that fill you and fulfill you, too. We’re super excited to dive into some of their addictive staples—from falafel to pita chips, Sriracha Greek Yogurt dressing (?!) to bright and fresh Watermelon Mint Juice.
In The Wall Street Journal, chief executive and co-founder Brett Schulman notes, “We want customers to have the ability to choose ingredients that fit their nutritional needs or dietary attributes,” and that the average cost for lunch is a budget-friendly $10.
Our only question now is…what should we order!?
