Starting July 11th, Blue Water Grill at 31 Union Square West is hanging up the “Gone Fishing” sign while it renovates its iconic space, reopening after Labor Day on September 6th.
Twenty years ago, the Union Square institution opened in the former Bank of Metropolis historic landmark building and quickly became a neighborhood staple. The construction begins just a year after the restaurant renewed its lease at the popular corner across from Union Square Park. Since it’s opening, the Blue Water Grill has been an invaluable community member, supporting Union Square Park at the original Harvest in the Square in 1996. This year will be no different. Mark your calendar for 2016’s event on September 22 for a taste of the new Blue Water Grill.
As the Open Table’s “Diner’s Choice 2016” restaurant celebrates 20 years, it welcomes new executive chef Chris Meenan and an updated space, including moving the bar to the center of the venue.
The boat hasn’t left just yet – you can still make a reservation for fresh seafood and sushi through July 11.
