Javelina opened on East 18th Street offering stand out Tex-Mex that would make any Texan feel right at home. With Shiner Bock on tap, the new restaurant specializes in chile rellenos, enchiladas, chicken fried steak, and frozen margaritas. The restaurant received a glowing review of their fajitas from Eater.com, which exclaimed “A sizzling cast-iron platter arrives heaped with strips of delicious grilled skirt steak and sauteed onions and peppers, accompanied by guac, pico, sour cream, rice, beans, and flour tortillas. Do-it-yourself bliss!” Javelina gets its name from a Texas wild boar known by the same name. If you ever are curious about the animal, you can see a stuffed Javelina (the restaurant has named Javier) over the bar. Javelina is now open for lunch and dinner. Check out their lunch menu, which debuted just last week.
