Life in Union Square is about to get a little tastier. The Real Deal reports that Dylan’s Candy Bar signed a long-term lease for 3,300 square feet at 33 Union Square West between Blue Water Grill and Heartland Brewery. Loosen you belts, because sweet addition joins Breads Bakery on the west side of Union Square, which has already become a neighborhood hit with its sweet baked goods.
Broadway was named one of the country’s ten ‘Great Streets’ by the American Planning Association (APA). Recent improvements, like the pedestrian plazas found just north of Union Square Park (pictured above), have helped this iconic New York roadway maintain its unique personality as a pedestrian and retail destination. The APA identifies ‘Great Streets’ that feature unique and authentic characteristics that have evolved from years of thoughtful and deliberate planning by residents, community leaders and planners. The Great Places in America announcement coincides with October (National Community Planning Month) and identifies 30 exemplary streets, neighborhoods and public spaces that add value to communities and foster economic growth and jobs. Check it out for yourself and grab a seat on the famous thoroughfare at the seating areas maintained by the Union Square Partnership (17th Street and Broadway).
