The Pavilion Market Cafe, our newest neighborhood amenity, just opened up on the North Plaza of Union Square Park! Chef Mario Urgiles is cooking up delectable dishes using local ingredients in the seasonal restaurant. With historic Union Square Park setting the backdrop for the space, diners can enjoy a meal and a drink looking across the expansive park.
Light fare includes Wild Mushroom Bruschetta and an Organic Kale Caesar Salad. Entrees offerings include an Organic Salmon Pot Au Feu with fennel, pearl onions, baby carrots, morels and tomatoes and a Pappardelle Al Pesto with crescenza cheese with a touch of cream. The dessert menu has some standout sweets such as a Chocolate Beet Cake with a blackberry-beet meringue, creme fraichee, cassis, blackberries and a beet sorbet along with an amazing Summer Berry Verrine with buttermilk panna cotta, summer berries, almond crumble and pistachio gelato. The drink menu includes cocktails with fun Union Square-themed names such as Metronome, 6 Train, Park-Side and Pavilion ’75. The menu will also soon include market-day specials during Greenmarket days (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays).
