Chef Jesse Schenker has just opened up The Gander, an American restaurant and bar room located at 15 West 18th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. The chef/owner of Recette presents us with an elevated-yet-casual menu set within a beautiful space with high ceilings and a retro vibe.
The menu is divided into several different sections: Snacks (the “Buffalo” Sweetbreads are especially tasty!) including Charcuterie and Cheese options, Starters, Pasta (in half and full portions), Mains, Sides and desserts. Other menu items include Sea Trout Tartare, Caserecci in a Suckling Pig Ragu with Pecorino and Crushed Red Pepper, and Arctic Char with Coco Bean, Chorizo, Leeks and Beurre Rouge.
We wouldn’t be surprised to see Don Draper sitting in the sleek bar room enjoying a whisky neat or Joan Harris sashaying through the glowing dining room. The Gander is now open for dinner seven days a week, and will open for lunch starting April 21st and for Brunch starting May 3rd.
