Rachel Haot, Chief Digital Officer for the City of New York, was the keynote speaker at the Union Square Partnership’s 29th Annual Meeting & Networking Reception last Monday, May 6th. The meeting is the largest community event in the neighborhood that brings together friends, neighbors, business owners, partners, and other key stakeholders in the Union Square community. With the huge surge in tech companies, Rachel Haot explained the initiatives the city is taking to attract and grow new companies that have already generated an estimated 3,000 jobs in the Union Square neighborhood.  Tech growth has helped drive down commercial vacancy rates and anchored new small retail businesses that have sprung up in the neighborhood. Executive Director Jennifer Falk followed Haot’s remarks with a rundown of the remarkable achievements of the Partnership in the last year.  The event took place in the elegant Great Room at the W New York – Union Square.
