Park braces for Nor’easter – Closing at noon today

Wind damage from Sandy weakened many of Union Square Park’s tree branches.

Yesterday, the Mayor announced that all parks will be closing from noon today(Wednesday) until noon tomorrow (Thursday).  The move will protect park-goers from falling branches and other debris caused by the high winds expected over the next 24 hours.  Last week, Union Square Park’s trees took quite a beating with Hurricane Sandy.  We urge everyone to stay safe and keep away from the Park’s perimeters.
