Union Square is a top destination for straphangers

This morning, AM New York took a look at MTA data which shows that subway ridership is at its highest levels since 1950.  On weekdays, Union Square is ranked the fourth busiest subway destination (ahead of Penn Station!) with 64,927,178 riders in 2011.  On the weekends, the neighborhood skyrockets to the #2 position, beating Grand Central Terminal.  A member of the MTA’s permanent Citizens Advisory Committee tells AM New York, “Union Square is a happening place – there’s shopping, and if it’s a nice day, you’re walking around the neighborhood.” Seems like captain obvious is following our blog!  😉
