Despite what many believe, Cindo de Mayo is actually NOT Mexico’s Independence Day. Today celebrates Mexico’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla, and has become a day to celebrate Mexican history and culture.

Union Square Restos Pledge to Source Locally

In an effort to support New York State’s excellent agricultural products, local foods, wines, beers and spirits, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that dozens of New York State chefs and restaurants have taken the Pride of New York Pledge. Working together with the New York State Restaurant Association, the Governor reached out to restaurants, restaurant groups and chefs to support the Pride of New York Pledge and increase their use of New York State products by 10 percent or more.

The Union Square Partnership’s commitment to sourcing locally has always been a priority. Never-before-seen Madonna Photos on Display at W New York – Union Square

W New York – Union Square is currently hosting select prints from an ongoing exhibit entitled “Madonna: Experience A Transformational Exhibition.” At the hotel you can see never-before-seen photographs of Madonna’s 1980s street style shot by world-renowned photographers, Richard Corman and George DuBose. The show is curated by Rock Paper Photos and runs through May 12. You can see other parts of the collection at W Times Square, W New York (on Lexington Avenue), W Downtown and W Hoboken.

Power Meetup Spot Reopens in Style

The Living Room @ W New York - Union Square

The W New York – Union Square recently reopened it’s new, restyled Living Room – the hotel’s lounge and a meetup spot for high-power New Yorkers.  The iconic space is the finish touch on a $15-million renovation of the hotel. The new aesthetic can also be seen in all of the hotel’s 270 renovated guest rooms, the famous nightlife venue Lilium and Todd English’s popular Olives rrestaurant.
