Behold: The Power of Cheese


This weekend, Daily News food writer Micheal Kaminer took a look at the emerging artisanal cheese scene in Union Square.  Those of you keeping up with the monthly newsletter and USP’s Biz & Broker quarterly report know that Union Square is becoming very cheesy.  Last summer, Seattle-based Beecher’s Cheese opened just north of the park at 20th and Broadway (Insiders secret: this is a really great place to grab a drink after work downstairs in the “Cheese Cellar.”)  This summer brought Williamsburg favorite, Bedford Cheese shop’s new larger store.  Bedford’s new Union Square location was called “homey and sleek” by the New York Times back in July and includes a new event/classroom space dubbed “The Homestead.”  This delectable space is offering yummy classes and events like this Tuesday’s Cheese Social Night featuring Madre Chocolate
